Studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, also known as STEM, play a critical role in the academic experiences of our youth. Early interest in these fields, especially in the middle and high school level, can establish a foundation for students to potentially explore STEM professions in their adult life. It is important to focus on these areas because there is an obvious impact on Education, Business and Industry, Entertainment, the Environment, Government and Politics, Sports, and Medicine. We need to be knowledgeable in these areas to continue to have a better quality of life. Every facet of our lives is touched by the study and implementation of ideas of STEM. People are living longer due to better health care. We have Technology changes from the smart phones to supercomputers. Great structures have been built, the environment may be kept clean and the improvements to transportation are aided through engineering. The study of Math ensures that we are able to reason and solve problems. Math is the thread through science, technology and engineering. There is a worldwide benefit through study in these areas.
